The Sisterhood of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara at the parish of St. Seraphim of Sarov (Orthodox Church of the Icon of Mother of God of Diveyevo) is a voluntary association founded on November 3, 2024, with the blessing of The Most Reverend Irénée, Archbishop of Ottawa and the Archdiocese of Canada.
Currently, there are 6 sisters working in the Sisterhood.
The main goal of the Sisterhood is to serve our neighbors through acts of mercy in the spirit of the Orthodox faith.
The tasks of the Sisterhood are:
• Caring for the beauty of the church and the sacristy, as well as maintaining cleanliness and order;
• Visiting the sick and helping those in need;
• Helping with caring for the seriously ill, psychological and spiritual support, caring for their families;
• Educational activities and assistance in churching;
• Supporting schools and children’s organizations within the framework of parish activities;
• Collecting goods and money for the needs of the sick, the poor, the disabled, etc.
The Sisterhood is an excellent opportunity for its members to sanctify their lives through acts of mercy, serving their neighbors and a readiness for self-sacrifice.
In addition, participation in the activities of the sisterhood will help support the church of God, and will also help its members unite into one parish family under the pastoral leadership of our Rector.
Membership fees are not required. Membership in the Sisterhood is available to all parishioners over 18 years of age. Non-parish members can also become members of the Sisterhood, but without the right to vote. Even if you are not yet ready to take this step, you can always participate in our activities. We will be glad to have you participate. The more of us there are, the more useful things we can do.
We invite all caring people to join us. With all questions regarding the activities of the Sisterhood of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara, you can contact the head sister Alla by phone +1 (438) 874-1505.
